2023 is coming to a close and it has been an exciting year for me and Canna Healing Consulting. Cannabis has changed my life in many ways. Here are my top 5 reasons for gratitude this season:
Making a difference in people's lives.
Many of my clients this year were cancer patients looking to manage the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. As a two-time cancer patient, I understand how hard it is to complete treatment. Cannabis can improve one's quality of life and I am grateful when I can help someone reach their goal. Navigating a confusing cannabis market can be stressful and I am here to help!
Wonderful testimonials
"Just wanted to thank you for your insightful presentation last evening. I found it so valuable hearing about how you turned your personal experience into a career you are passionate about. The information you shared was valuable and I am eager to learn more about this quickly evolving and bustling field."
"Fantastic presentation on the applications of THC in the cancer realm. I had no idea that a degree in Medical Cannabis Science Therapeutics existed. Thank you for sharing your experiences and insights with us."
"We can't begin to tell you how wonderful Shari's presentation was and the fact that she was sharing her own personal journey made it even more powerful. We learned so much and know we have more to learn about using cannabis."
Opportunities to educate and advocate. The Dempsey Cancer and Support Center in Maine has been a regular gig and I so enjoy educating cancer patients about using cannabis to help with symptom management and improve quality of life. Recently, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation asked me to present to their community.
Many patients have oncologists that are open to cannabis use but they have no idea how to guide their patients. It is so rewarding to provide the information that cancer patients need to use cannabis safely and effectively.
I am thankful for my health. As a two-time cancer survivor with late effects from treatment, I take a real interest in keeping myself healthy, grounded and in good physical shape. Learning about cannabis as an alternative or complementary therapy to address my issues has been eye-opening. The stigma I once felt (as many others still do) began to melt away the more I learned and the better results I achieved. I sleep 8 hours a night (sometimes more) and manage my chronic neck pain (from radiation) without opioids or NSAIDs. My anxiety is managed more proactively and I feel a sense of balance I hadn't felt previously. Cannabis is one tool of many in the toolbox and when combined with diet, exercise, stretching, relaxation techniques and good sleep has helped me achieve my current state.
Innovation and some great products.
We are learning every day about the cannabis plant and its therapeutic properties. There are over 500 compounds in the plant. That's a lot of compounds to choose from! The good news is there are so many potential ways to manage symptoms.
Consumers have some good options now with hemp products, especially if they are in a state where THC is prohibited.
Cannabis is not a "one size fits all" in many ways. Everyone has a unique profile and cannabis works differently for each person. That said, we have so many different tools to choose from to achieve maximum benefit.
Many new products and potency ratios are coming out every day. Cannabis drinks such as seltzers are popular, especially for those who want to reduce alcohol intake. Some gummies are considered faster-acting than the standard edible. I love microdosed products such as 1 mg Sweet Spots and low-dose sprays such as Halo microdose mist.. A new "go-to" is the Cannaflower CBD gummy.
I wish you a happy holiday season and am always here to help you learn about cannabis. Remember you can schedule a free 15-minute consult to learn more about the services I provide.
